एक IAS अधिकारी बनने के लिए Problem-Solving mode हमेशा चालू रहना चाहिए .

My name is Akhil V Menon and I have secured the all India rank 66 in the UPSC CSE 2021. This was my 3rd attempt by opting for Law as an optional subject. Talking about the UPSC, then it’s not a journey that can be considered without ups and downs. I was unable to clear the prelims in the first attempt in the year 2019. The reason behind my failure was that I wasn’t having any defined strategy. That was my first attempt. I started reworking on the strategy and started studying a lot. I lacked in planning a defined strategy, and failed in the Mains exam (2020). I thought of taking a decent job, but I worked very hard to fulfill the dream of becoming a civil servant. Afterall, that was my dream to be protected at all costs.

Strategies to be followed during the preparations:

At the end of the day, what you need to solve is the MCQ. You need to attain very defined knowledge about it. I practiced a lot of questions. I used to solve 50 questions on a daily basis and even worked on the elimination strategy. Those 50 questions solved were used to learn 50 new themes.

Finally, according to the prelims stage, one needs to be in a problem solving mode and dedicate the right allotted time to each and every question.

The whole interview preparation process revolves around reading the newspaper. Although the interview process is very cordial in nature.

Role of KSG in my UPSC preparation:

I was associated with KSG for the final lap i.e, the interview procedure.

The panel of the KSG was actively giving the right feedback and finding out the mistakes.

I have so much gratitude towards the KSG for which I am very much thankful to the Khan sir.
